On our way up to Forks we hit the Wynoochee in the upper reaches to try and get at some steel. We got there at noon, and fished the stretch above the 7300 bridge, and then we moved up to the top. No fish in the lower section, the water was really low, but when we moved up top to the big hole below the barrier dam we found it full of fish. By this time we had probably only about an hour of daylight left to fish. We saw steelhead roll, and lots of whitefish. We each hook a few whitefish, and a couple coho which was frusterating because we were burning daylight and the steelhead were just not cooperative within our limited timeframe. Although the weather was great and the water beautiful, no dice on steel. Most fish were hooked on twitching a barbless jig.
