Went out today after school, Don't you just LOVE half days due to budget cuts! I know I do xD! School ended at 11:00, and we were on the road by 11:15 and and the water at 12:30.
No one was there, literally NO ONE. The fish ing was good but inconsistant, we hooked four the first hour and it slowed down to about one fish for every two hours. Limited out for the both of us. Both of my fish were on jigs tipped with shrimp, My dad caught one on jigs and another on a little cleo. Great day though, slowed down since the first time I was there.

we fished a mile above the mouth and and kept walking down the river every half hour till we saw good steelhead water. I hooked my first two right at the mouth, you know where the riffle starts? I casted above it and had 3 bobber downs

Wait, so you were casting in the cascade at the mouth, and letting your bobber drift down into the skagit? or were you up in the first hole at the cascade? just wondering because i was starting to think with no rain that the fish were staying at the mouth waiting to come in, but im not exactly sure if you are saying you got em in the skagit where they meet or in the first corner in the cascade?

I'd let my bobber drift right into the Skagit. The current pushes my bobber right into this near invisible seam, right in front of there faces. Found that out yesterday, should be tons of steel holding in there.......no one ever expects the kid to catch steelhead xD proved them wrong.

Cool dude, yea that looks good right there when u cast in the cascade and it drifts into that slow spot where it meets the skagit, but i havent fished it much! might have to try it soon!
