I was on my way to Lake Washington for some bass fishing and diverted to Pine Lake at the last second since it was only five minutes from my house. After putting in, I began working the shoreline area to the north of the pier with plastic worms. Managed to mug a 7" largemouth on a 5" worm. I'm still amazed at how large a bait a bass will take in relation to its own size. While finning along, I was constantly scanning the water and several times observed bass that looked to be four to five pounds hovering just beneath my pontoon boat. What made it tough was that the fish were suspended out away from any structure in twelve to fifteen feet of water. Hooking them up would have been hit and miss, as they weren't interested in my Senko as it slowing sank by their noses. Will have to make this lake a regular stop as the weather warms and we get a stretch of sunny days. With the bass action on hold, I tied on a black leech and split shot and started catching plants to 10" with regularity. Will return with fly gear in hand.
