Buddy wanted to try for steelies today so started the day at Reiters. Cold as hell and a little gust didnt help much. After about 1hr we decided to go to Al Borlin Park and see if we could land some silvers.
20mins in and my buddy hooks up. Big-o Chum! Released with no harm. Next couple hours and betweem 2 of my buddies, the release 4 Chums. Was starting to think there wasnt any silvers left. Buddy puts on a 50/50 dick nite and bam! 1st cast and he lands a beautiful chrome silver.
Was starting to think i was going home skunk haha Then wham! Line starts taking off....this ones a fighter! Wrestle with it a bit hoping its a silver. Instead it was the fattest chum i ever caught! Good 12lb+. Realeased no harm.
Next couple cast i snag and lose my gear. Almost called it quits but decided to tie up one more corky yarn. (purple& black, green corky). Cast out...line goes slack. I'm like man..same spot i caught the Chum. Set the hook..Fish on! Bring it up...buddy like dude....thats a steelhead! I'm like no way!? Sure enough it was..nice 9-10lb. My 1st steelhead!
