Stopped by the hoodsport hatchery because on Monday the place had tons of chum. Parking lot was half empty, quite unusual. About 20 fisherman there with no one hooking up. I brought along my 10 yr old nephew so he could experience some fun fishing. So we decided to head over to the Skok to see how it was doing. It was low and clear, and the best part was that it was in a rain shadow from the massive downpour. Stopped on the Purdy cutoff and spotted some fish so we decided to stay and try. The place was pretty packed, so I waited for a little window between fisherman to slip in and throw a few casts. I was using eggs, first cast fish on. Too easy as one guy put it. Hooked up almost every cast, which is always fun. My nephew reeled in two fish all by himself. The fish were looking a little better than what was being caught at the hatchery. The Skok is packed with chums! My nephew had a lot of fun, so it was a successful trip!
