Since I'm flying back to Michigan on Wednesday for whitetail season I figured I'd get one more day of salmon fishing in before I had to get ready to leave.

I arrived at the Tilton a bit late, around 1130. I talked to a guy in the parking lot who said they didn't dump any fish on Sunday and they hadn't dumped any yet that day. After that long drive I had to give it a shot anyway. I walked to my favorite spot and fished for 45 minutes with nothing. Talked to a few guys who had been fishing upriver and said it was full of dark fish.

With this news I walked over to the swimming hole to see what there was. It was full of fish! As much as I hate fishing there, I figured I'd try throwing some spinners... no luck. In the mean time, the truck arrived for one load of fish at about 1230, so I figured I'd go back up to my spot and try it again. Still no luck.

At this point I'm getting desperate so I tried some fast water with a back eddy that looked like it could be holding some fish. Lucky guess. I left at 1630 with my limit of coho, some still pretty bright, some turning.

I'll be back in early December, hopefully they'll be some chum around or maybe I'll have to try WA steelhead fishing.
Tight lines!
