I fished downstream of the soccerfield and at the 277th bridge in Auburn for some catch and release chums using pink and chartreuse jigs tipped with shrimp(prawns) under a float.
Later went to Duwamish to fish the high tide for brighter silver coming in, seen a few bright ones jumping but some darker ones in the mix too, couldn't get the silvers to bite today, but the chums were alot of fun. The 1st picture is a bright hen chum, surprised to see one that bright up there and yes I released her(I rather have bright silvers in the lower river for the smoker) :)

I'd like to see a photo of the jig too. I always like seeing folks fish jigs with success. I'm a free drifter myself but what ever gets er done!!! The chums love that green & pink or green & red combo. I have a pattern I call the scarlet harlot that works wonders. The coho don't seem to go quite as bonkers for those colors anymore. I seem to attract more coho now with purples and reds mixed with various other colors.

the photos hgad odd characters in the file name. It's best to rename these photos and resize them for the web in a photo editing program. nice fish.

I'm going to try fishing with a jig and shrimp for the first time, do you guys do anything with the prawns prior to baiting them (like cure them in borax or something) or do you just throw them right on the jig "as is" from the supermarket?

Ed - good job! thanks for the report! @bkawafishin - you can use raw prawns, or "do something" with them either one. In my experience straight raw prawns tend to fall a part pretty easily. Everybody has their own way. Me personally, I have my own recipe for steelhead - never used em for salmon though.
