The wife and I took the afternoon off on a georgeous fall afternoon and headed up to the PO river for our last fishing trip of the year. Put in at Cusick @ 1:00, water temps in the low 50's. Headed down to Davis and dead cow slough and boated only one Pike and missed a few at the boat, lower water temps have made them really slow, most strikes occured at the side of the boat on follows. I picked up this odd looking trout that I'm not really sure what species of trout it is, almost looks like a Tiger trout, which we caught a few of those at Loon this spring. For all you trout folks we did see quite a few hanging out along the weedlines. What a great year of fishing, found a new favorite fish, thanks Mark (aka AJ's Dad)! May give the Tiger Muskie a try next year, hope everyone has a great winter, see ya on the slopes!

That is definitely a mack! Must have made its way down from one of the big lakes.

Wow what a special fish. It looks like a Hybrid cross between a Northern Pike and a Squaw fish. It has a spotted type coloring like a Pike and the forked tail of a Squaw Fish. I'm convinced we have a new species here. Did you release it? I suggest an all out gill netting program to try to rid the POR of this new preditor. OK I'm just kidding. Although I have never caught one, I to believe that is a Mackinaw that made his way over the dam from PO Lake.

Nice Mack! My father in law got one up there last year. They make their way down from Lake Pend Oreille. It's too nice out to quit fishing already!

Nice mack! Unfortunately, I can see this giving the WDFW another reason to panic and start the cleansing of the PO river.
