Well, it rained, and a buddy of mine had told me that the Nootsack was decent. I've never fished it before. I just traded up a pole for little river fishing and wanted to try it out on some low and clear water. It was awesome, breaking in my new Shimano 10' 6" ultra lite 4 - 6 pound rod with ultra light gear and 6 pound test.

I drove around a bit and looked at some spots, found a few and then found the spot I liked with fish rolling and a few other guys to BS with which is always nice.

Some of the fish were turning fire truck already, but there were a fair amount of chromers too. I hooked up with more fish than my new fishing buddies because I was using ultra lite, six pound fluoro and it was basically invisible. there was about ten feet of vis, only a touch of color to the water. Man that noodle rod was super fun.

I ended up hooking 8 fish, losing 3 and foul hooking 2 of them which was strange, doesn't happen that often, but the fish were stacked so whatevs. There was no turning the fish that were coming in sideways with that light tack, so they got off easy when I broke 'em off.

Took home a limit of some decent fish, the big buck is headed straight for the smoker, but two of the hens were dime bright and the other had darkened but no red blush. Loaded up on eggs, which I go through quite a bit. Did see one guy run away, leaving his fish and his roe behind when a hatchery truck drove by. Kind of comical, I guess he figured out too late that bait isn't allowed up there.

All the fish were taken on a gold wee dick nite fished with a 1/16 ounce of weight on a baby swivel and a 4 foot leader. Get up there quick before the fish get any darker, and there are probably some chrome headed up if this rain keeps up. Don't step on any toes though, keep it clean and keep your lines tight!
