Had to hit Joy one more time before getting back to flyfishing, what with the opener come and gone. Got on the water around 7:30am. Overcast with a light drizzle. Started out working the shoreline right from the launch area and found a bass haven among some sunken docks and floating logs not far from the launch. Took three largemouth out of this one spot to two pounds. Action was fairly constant all morning. As I started working the shoreline in the opposite direction from the launch, I finned into some tight spaces flipping a black/red flake 5" Senko weightless around anything sticking out of the water. The bass were everywhere. At one point, after adjusting my worm on hook, I threw it back into the water to prepare to cast and watched a fish come out of nowhere and grab it right under my pontoon boat. Another time, I was scanning the water with my polarized glasses, looked just behind my boat and saw two bass hovering, the larger one must have been at least four pounds. The moment I moved my fins, they vanished. I released at least a dozen for the morning up to three pounds. I can see how bass fishing can be habit forming!
