Zack and I got to the POR Saturday at about 6am. We ran north a ways and tried a couple of sloughs, only to find them shallow, muddy, and fishless. We moved out to the main river and started searching for weed beds. There seems to be very little cabbage in the river yet this year. I believe it is there but it has not broken the surface yet due to the high water we experienced this year. My guess is that we will see the cabbage soon, it just hasn't seen enough sunlight yet and now that the water levels are back down, it may grow and peak out above the surface soon. Then again, I am not a "Fresh Water Vegitation Specialist". I'm just guessing. we found some weeds and the fish seemed to like the 4 to 5 foot depth. We finished the day with 14 pike and a couple of nice large mouth bass. Largest pike was 30" and just under 8lbs. We had many in the 4-6 1/2 lb range. Fish bit on Spoons, and spinner baits. The water was murky everywhere in the main river. My guess is that when the water cleans up and the cabbage gets going better, the bite will get real good, and the fish will be easily located. Happy Fishing
