My son and I went to the Barrier Dam Saturday and Sunday looking for some summer steelhead. That's exactly what we got too. On Saturday, we got there around 8am and left at 330pm. Fishing was slow, only the guys on the island were hooking fish. My son hooks a fish and the fish is almost to the bank when the hook popped off the springer. Then, I hooked into a fish, fights for a couple minutes, got it into the net. Got a nice summer steal buck. Fishing slowed back down after that. On Sunday, we got there at 10am and left at 6pm. Same story with Saturday. Started out slow, but there were lots of fish jumping though. I walked up from the flats and tried a different spot, first cast, I hook up into a fish. My son grabbed it. The fish was a steel buck. Both steelhead were about 8lbs didn't have the scale with us. They were dropping the water level down both days. The level dropped about 2 feet and the rocks are slippery.
