6/2/2011 4:30:00 PMJoe - chinook, coho and sockeye all migrate through the slough as do cutts, kokanee and possibly rainbow/steelhead.

6/2/2011 7:30:00 PMpendletonjohn - the kokes and bows in the Lake Washington/Sammamish system move between the two lakes and also use the tributaries of the slough to spawn, it used to be an awesome fishery.

The volume and quality of water coming off the plateau and from the surrounding area has dropped off dramatically since the 70's. With the help of the Issaquah hatchery, the number of reported steelhead caught in the slough during the early 70's was over 1000 fish anually.

6/6/2011 3:08:00 PMTo add to what G-man said regarding the salmon fishery on the Slough, if you are on the slough in the fall, you'll see sockeye, silvers and chinook. You just can't fish for them because the river closes after August 31st....right when most of the fish will begin moving in. They used to allow fall fishing. I know that at least part of the reason they closed it is because people were stagging the chinook, taking the eggs, and leaving the carcasses. I'm sure it also has to do with poor returns due to environmental and other factors. Sea Lions destroyed whatever steelhead fishery there was left in the 80's.
