Phenominal would be an understatement of how the fishing went today. I went out today with my father and brother for some pike fishing and launched out of Cusick. We caught pike all day long on a variety of tackle, and landed two monsters that weighed in at 22 lbs and 22.5 lbs and were 42-43 inches. Both were tagged, so while it might have been funny to catch the same one twice, they were clearly not the same fish. The weather was pretty poor, with some rain off and on and it was windy all day, but the fish bit all day long too. We ended up boating 41 total pike, with the two giants, one at 12lbs, one at 7lbs, and most in the 3-4 lb range. What a day

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, you have accomplished something a lot of good anglers in the lower 48 only dream about and that is put 2 true trophy pike in the boat in the same day. I am very impressed and very jealous. Definitely nice to see those 20lbers being pulled out of there still with all things considered. They look very healthy as well nice and fat. What did you guys catch them on? No need to be specific, just curious as to the type. Congrats again and hopefully they are still swimming so one day I may catch them!!

Thanks for the congratulations guys, it was certainly a banner day, and yes they were both released. I tried to repeat the success again today, but it was more along normal lines. We tried similar tackle and tactics and caught 9 pike with the largest being just over 6lbs. I haven't really figured out why they are so off and on from day to day, but it sure is fun when they are aggressive. Without giving up to many details, I like to use spinning lures and fish in the sloughs this time of year.

I think alot of it right now is the rate of the rising water level. When you caught those fish the water level had been fairly stable for a coupl days now its on the rise again.. up almost a ft since yesterday..

Just an FYI guys, I had an email with the folks from the county today. There is a "No Wake" rule in effect at the POR as of yesterday. They said they don't expect it to change for a couple of weeks. By the way, Nice fishes you got there Nick. Sounds like you had one of those days!! Happy Fishing

Also, thanks for holding the fish properly, especially with those big girls. I know it puts an awful lot of pressure on there spine when being held vertically by the head. Congrats again. I keep checking the report to look at these beautiful beasts!!!

Dang after looking at all the posts from last year you boys sure know how to put the fish of 10lbs+ in the boat. What kind of performance enhancing drugs are you guys taking!!!!
