I was invited to go fishing for steelhead in Idaho with my cousin and a couple of friends from Kamiah and Stites on the Clearwater river last month, Not being an avid steelheader I was reluctant (hadn't caught a steelhead since I was 14 years old, 50 years ago), but I wanted a vacation of sorts so decided to go. I was treated to a 10 day fishing dream come true. 5 minutes in the water and "FISH ON", a beefy "B" run 30" buck, wild so back he went, but what an adrenalin rush. Caught 15 steelies in one day, and so it went for a week. I'm soooo hooked now it's an addiction. Took a 2 day side trip to Riggins on the Salmon river and no let up, phenom fishing, 20 steelies in 2 days. Now I know why Steelhead fisherman are so pumped about the sport. I've now joined the ranks... Fish On Brothers

I love the way your talkin. I have never caught one of them, but as I see your pics and hear your enthusiasm, I hope I'll get my chance in this lifetime.

Fantastic report......and congratulations on a phenomenal fishing trip! I consider catching 2-3 steelhead a day a good day, but could not imagine a 15 fish day, now I know why you're addicted. Hard to believe we have such a great (and consistent annually) steelhead fishery on the Clearwater and Salmon Rivers so close to us with many opportunities to catch large B-run fish, yet these waters receive relatively little pressure. Thanks for taking the time to write a report on the Clearwater and sharing some info., and hopefully, this will get others to share as well on this great and addicting fishery!

Congratulations on a fantastic fishing trip! I consider catching 2-3 fish a day a good day, but could not imagine catching 15 steelhead a day, now I know why you're addicted. Hard to believe we have such a great steelhead fishery nearby in the Clearwater and Salmon Rivers, yet there is relatively little pressure for these large magnificent fish during the winter time. Thanks for taking the time to post a steelhead report on the Clearwater River, since there seems to be very few of the them on this web site. Hopefully, that will change and we can start sharing useful info. to help each other catch these awesome fish.
