Headed out to rhe Sammamish River this afternoon to try out my new pontoon boat that I got on Friday. When we got there I had forgot my life jacket and my step dad went back to the house to get it. While we were waiting I threw a blue Rooster Tail with an orangs blade. On the secong cast it was hit hard the fish jumped out of the water and spit the hook. Probably a 9-11 inch fish it felt like.
When my step dad came back we put the pontoon boat in the water and I headed on my way down river with them following me on the bike trail. I got what felt like several ticks, very possibly could have been weede but I think some of them were bites because I was using the same lure and some were harder hits than others. The pontoon boat was very comfy especially with the kerosene waders kept my legs warm and dry, and handling it went pretty smoothly for the first time using it, I would definately suggest getting one they are easy to transport and pretty affordable I got mine for $120.
When I brought it to shore My step dad went to go get the truck so we wouldnt have to carry it all the way down and I am glad he did. While we were waiting I threw in my Rooster Tail under a bridge in a deep pool and on the first cast as I was reeling in I got a small cutthroat trout (as seen in picture). On my sixth cast I got another that was bigge, at least another 3 1/2 inches. I dont have a picture because my mom wanted to release it and not go get the camera. The other one was out for twice the time an swam away like a bullet the second i started to revive it. All fish were released with no harm done. It was very nice not catching one of those ugly salmon fry eating squawfish. In August 4 out of 5 fish you caught were suawfish. I might go to beaver or maybe Beaver lake next weekend, but for now keep those stringers full for me!(just make sure you don't have any on you stringer from the slough, it is 100% catch and release, please have integrity :-)!

It's also Selective Gear rules, meaning single, barbless hook. Did you remember to change out the treble hooks on your spinners?

Nice to know there are some trout in that stretch of water. All I ever hear about are the squaw. Nice work. You picked a heck of a day to use a float tube! lol.

Hey fishinfreak, my second one was 11" ! :-) Jungle Jim I did have barbless hooks but had never heard of the single hook, next time I will use a single hook. Mud Duck I was fishing on the bike trail near Marymoor park, and by that huge JB lawn field.

Can't tell from the picture, but that appears to be a smolt and not a trout. The deep forked tail seems to indicate it may be a species of salmon. Please handle those little ones very carefully.

I was pretty sure it was a cutthroat with the big red patch under its gills and blue spote wich young cutthroat have. Thanks though.

I'll be out there 1 weekend with my 8 foot pontoon(my 10 footer too heavy to carry from the parking lot to the slough) and flyrod, looks fun. Yeah make sure your using single barbless hooks and have fun

It was very fun to just sit back and flow down the river in peace and comfort. It felt like it was just the fish the pole and the river....smooth sailin.
