Theres something to say about fishing for winter steelhead. The conditions with the morning snow just kinda added to some awesome scenery on the Snake river behind the Ice Harbor Dam. Three guys had landed 3 hatchery fish before we arrived around 9 a.m After parking and setting up,Joe Cortez, along with his friend Louis and I spread out to try our luck for these late run fish. I set my float at around 5 feet and on my second cast with a red dyed shrimp was met with an immediate take down, but I missed it. It took another two hours before I could finally set the hook on a fiesty 5lb hatchery steely. My new friend TJ was nice enough to help me net it. A tipsy blond lady just down from me had a big fish pull down her bobber, but she tried to horse it in and it spit the hook. It was the same story for a guy using a black Aero jig with purple shrimp. He lost the fish right at the net. Joe and Louis didn't have a bite between them, but we all had a good time BSin' and enjoying an awesome morning fishing for Snake River steehead. Jiggy
