OK SO HERE WE GO AGAIN.......I WENT BACK TO THE LEWIS AND SKIPPED MY O.P. TRIP AND PUSHED IT BACK AGAIN. I FREAKIN LOVE THAT PLACE!!!! I CANT SAY IT ENOUGH, IT IS THE FISHING MECCA!!!!!! I WILL BE HONEST, I DEBATED WHETHER I SHOULD EVEN PUT A POST ON HERE AND WANTED TO BE SELFISH AND KEEP IT TO MYSELF. BUT I HAVE RECENTLY READ A FEED WHERE SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT HOW THEY DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS NECESSARY TO POST WHERE THEY WHERE FISHING BECAUSE OF YEARS OF HARD WORK TO LOCATE FISHING SPOTS, BUT WOULD STILL POST PICS AND GIVE A REPORT. WELL I GOT TO TELL YA.....ITS ABOUT THE DUMBEST THING I THINK I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. NOW EVERYONE HAS THEIR SECRET GO TO SPOTS, BUT TO KEEP ALL YOUR FISHING TRIPS A SECRET, COME ON. PLUS WHAT IS THE POINT OF BEING ON HERE IF YOU FISH SPOTS, DON'T TELL ANYONE ELSE, BUT READ THEIR REPORTS AND SNEAK ON OVER TO THOSE RIVERS AND FISH THOSE PLACES? INSTEAD OF BEING SO COCKY AND 007 ABOUT IT YOU SHOULD JUST BE SAYING THANK YOU TO ALL OF US WHO DO GIVE UP THE GOODS SO YOU CAN REAP THE BENEFITS. THIS IS A GREAT SITE AND THE ONLY ONE I FEEL WORTHY OF REPORTS. FOR THE MOST PART EVERY ONE ON HERE SEEMS WAY COOL AND RESPECTFUL OF OUR FISHERIES, AND THE WAY THE WEB SITE IS RAN IS GREAT. WELL ENOUGH WITH FEEDING THE NEGATIVITY AND ON WITH WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT......THE INFO :)
SO TUES GOT LOST, AND DROVE AN HOUR DOWN THE WRONG ROAD BEFORE REALIZING IT HAHAHAHAHA! FOUND ANOTHER GOOD SPOT THOUGH FULL OF TROUT. SO ONCE BACK ON TRACK I DROVE BACK UP TO THE TROUT HONEY HOLE. AGAIN FISHED REALLY HIGH ON THE LEWIS WHERE ALL THE WATERFALLS ARE AT, AND CRUSHED IT. I WAS CATCHING THE BIGGEST TROUT OF MY LIFE, AND AGAIN WE WHERE BOTH USING ORANGE WEDDING RINGS. BUT MY WIFE AGAIN TRUMPED ME AND CAUGHT THE BIGGEST RAINBOW TROUT I HAD EVER SEEN IN REAL LIFE. THIS THING LOOKED LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF A LAKE NOT A RIVER.
WED. SO WED WE DECIDED TO FISH THE RESIVOR AND SEE WHAT WE COULD GET. WE FISHED I THINK YALE RESIVOR, ACROSS FROM THE BIG TOWN OF COUGAR. THE LEWIS IS DAMMED OFF INTO 3 LAKE/RESAVORS ABOUT THE MIDDLE POINT, THIS IS FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LEWIS. AGAIN IT WAS SICK! WE NAILED LOTS OF TROUT FROM SHORE, JUST CASTING A WORM OUT AND LETTING IT SIT ON THE BOTTOM. I CAUGHT ONE FISH THAT WASN'T A TROUT, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. GOOD SIZE THOUGH.
THURS. THURS WE WENT TO I THINK MERWIN RESIVOR. IT IS THE ONE WITH A HATCHERY. SO I HAD NEVER CAUGHT A KOKANEE BEFORE, OR HAD SEEN ONE IN REAL LIFE FOR THAT MATTER. WE DROVE DOWN TO THE HATCHERY AND THERE IS THOUSANDS OF THE DAM THINGS! THEY WHERE EVERY WHERE. SO WE DECIDED TO FISH FOR A WHILE IN THAT AREA, RIGHT DOWN FROM THE HATCHERY WHERE A LITTLE CREEK FLOWS IN. WE CAUGHT SO MANY OF THESE DAM THINGS WE FINALLY GOT TIRED OF IT HAHAHAHA! SO AT THIS POINT IT HAS BEEN THREE DAYS OF SOLID FISH AND SEVERAL DIFFERENT KINDS. WE ARE IN FISH HEAVEN, BUT NOW IT WAS TIME FOR SALMON WHICH WAS THE WHOLE REASON I HEADED TO THIS RIVER IN THE FIRST PLACE. BUT I GOT SO CAUGHT UP WITH ALL THE OTHER FISHERIES (WHICH YOU FISH BY YOUR SELF WITH NO ONE ELSE IN SIGHT) THAT I HAD YET TO GO AND FISH FOR SALMON.
WE FINALLY WORKED OUR WAY DOWN TO THE LEWIS RIVER HATCHERY. THIS IS THE MEAT HOLE OF MEAT HOLES. AND TO MY SURPRISE THERE WAS HARDLY ANYONE THERE. BUT THE ONES THERE PRETTY MUCH ALL HAD FISH LAYING AT THE EDGE OF THE RIVER WHEN I PULLED UP. NOT ONLY WAS THIS A SICK SPOT WITH ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF STRUCTURE TO FISH, BUT YOU CAN FISH FROM BOTH SIDES, YOU CAN FISH OFF ROCKS, YOU CAN WADE, YOU CAN FISH FROM THE BANK WITH NO WADERS, THERE ARE DEEP PARTS SHALLOW PARTS, PARTS TO FLOAT FISH, AND PARTS FOR DRIFT FISHING. NOW I PRETTY MUCH READ ALL THE REPORTS AND FORUM POSTS ON THIS SIGHT, AND I KNOW WE ALL HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHERE THE COHO RUNS HAVE BEEN (THAT ARE NOW STARTING TO FINALLY REALLY SHOW UP), WELL.......THEY ARE ALL IN THE DAM LEWIS RIVER, THAT'S WHERE!!!!!!!!!!! THIS FRIGGIN PLACE IS PACKED WITH THOUSANDS OF FISH PRETTY MUCH ALL SILVERS. AND THESE AREN'T THOSE WEAK ASS CARBON RIVER, OR NISQUALLY RIVER SILVERS THAT ARE TINY, THEY ARE DAM OIL TANKERS! I DON'T THINK ANYONE TOLD THIS RUN OF SILVERS THEY AREN'T SUPPOSE TO GET THAT BIG BUT THEY DID! OH, AND DISCLAIMER- ALL YOU CARBON AND NISQUALLY LOCALS DON'T GET MAD AT MY SLANDEROUS COMMENT ABOUT THOSE RIVERS. I LIVED ON THE NISQUALLY FOR A FEW YEARS AND FISHED THE RIVER JUST ABOUT EVERY DAY IT WAS OPEN. THE CARBON IS PROBABLY MY MOST FAVORITE RIVER TO FISH, BUT THEY DO NOT PRODUCE THE SIZE OR NUMBERS OF THIS SPOT. GUARANTEED. SO ANY WAYS BACK TO THE ACTION, THERE ARE FISH JUMPING AND DIVING EVERY WHERE, FROM UP ABOVE ON THE ROAD THEIR LIKE LITTLE SCUD MISSILES FLYING AROUND UNDER WATER EVERY WHERE. AND I SWEAR THE WHOLE TIME I WAS THERE AT LEAST ONE PERSON HAD A FISH ON. SO MANY FISH CAUGHT IT WAS RIDICULOUS. SO IF YOU LIVE SOUTH HIT IT UP AND I PROMISE YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.
ON A NONE FISHING NOTE WE HIT UP LAVA CANYON OUT BY THE APE CAVES AND THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SCENERY I HAVE EVER SEEN AND A SICK SUSPENSION BRIDGE THAT GOES OVER THE RIVER FOR A GREAT VIEW. I LOVE THE LEWIS RIVER IT IS TRULY THE OUTDOORSMENS PLAY GROUND....
