Took a friend out fishing on the Tilton Saturday morning. On the water around 8:00. Starting catching fish within a few minutes. Worked our way down stream dead-drifting nymphs on a 10' leader and floating line along seams, pockets around boulders, and around overhanging vegetation. Fished until lunch with two in my creel and right around twenty (between the two of us) or so caught and released. All were native Rainbows averaging between 6 - 8 inches, the two I did keep were hatchery about 13"-14" in length.
Moved downstream just below the confluence of the north fork and fished a couple more hours. Had a couple bites but no hookups. The rain didn't appear to be letting up, and the water level starting rising more than what I was comfortable with. Off the water by 4:00...we left the Tilton and decided to do some scouting along the Cowlitz and Cispus instead.
All in all...a good day.
