Went to start out at the mouth of the Sultan. Nada. Not a single fish rolling, nothing. I guess the fish must have moved upstream to the hatchery. Three days ago fish were rolling everywhere. Jumping like crazy. Nothing doin today. Went upstream to try the eddy, saw some fish rolling, but they looked like steel, not salmon. Do the salmon go up past the Wallace? One take on a rvfshr spoon, but I was almost asleep and missed it. Some guy was there bored fly fishing for smolt and caught a bajillion. I was sucked into another hour of fishing after that missed fish, but nothing else. Shoulda gone to the duwamish. But the sky is my favorite river. Meh, I'll try back next week.

Yes Coho do go past the Wallace. I would guess mostly wild and maybe a few lost hatchery. I have hooked up below Big Eddy but not past there although there might be some big natives up there and beyond. I appreciate your reports I am looking to get out there for some Coho action myself. Can't get enough of the Sky.

They are may Coho that go past there. There's a fish lader at Sunset calls and they net em up and truck em up as well. Kings, stealhead and COHO.. They all have a adapose fine, not wild fish..

We were up poking around South & North fork last fall and there were both full of pinks along with the streams dumping in. Was good to see...

There usually is a small run of big coho up on the north fork. I hook into them every once in a while when i go up past index looking for steelhead later on. ( my understanding that you cant keep them up there, but I wouldnt want to anyways.) My guess is that the fish you saw are some early schools pushing up. The river should be full all they way down in a week or two.

That's good to know. I love fishing the upper reaches for steel. My favorite river bar none.
