I couple comments about fishing methods I have found successful at Cavanaugh. The fish (trout) hate any type of equipment, unless you're fishing off the shore but they love dick nites while you troll -use it with a worm, NOT A NIGHT CRAWLER. In that type of weather I would've just stayed on shore and cast out a weight and about 2 ft of space between the weight and power bait. If you try that I suggest you use rainbow color or just red color powerbait. When you're trolling I suggest you stay near the bottom and the best bait would be just a 3 inch garden worm. If the fish are jumping try what Uncle Wes was doing. I don't have a fish finder so if you do, use the depths the fishfinder says the fish are at. Good luck!
