I fished the Puke down by the soccer fields today for about an hour and caught a nice bright 15 pound King about 5:45pm. He fought like a king should stayed down and made run after run, and after a few minutes I finally got him in. I caught him on 2 small red corkies and bright green yarn with a size 1 hook.

This is the fifth time for me fishing the puke since the opening and besides having a few fish on for just a moment and coming off, I finally caught something worth while out of this river for all the time I have put in.

NICE LOCO!!!!! Water didn't look totally like mud, is there some visibility? Snake7676, sounds like you are getting' close too! But breaking off with 17 pound main line has to bring out a few choice words on the river LOL. Good luck out there people. If it gets hot, I may have to do all the 'honey do' stuff to see if I can sneak away for a few hours on a weekend.
That's OK, daughter and I cooked up rib eye steak on alder wood fire. Yum. Still not BBQ chrome salmon though. Enjoy LOCO! Where are the soccer fields? Anybody having any luck around levee road? Good to finally see a little success on the Puy.

TO #5. post. The river closers are from the mouth up to the green bridge on river road I believe. above that it is open but probably not worth fishing due to the natives have the nets up.

Its not the green bridge its freemen rd down to the mouth. Freemen rd is about a mile up from the green bridge. And it closed to day.
