I live just a couple of blocks from this lake and have never caught a thing. I have fished at this lake several times and have never even gotten a bite. I assumed that it was no longer stocked with trout or left over salmon. I few weeks back I read that it had been recently stocked with 1000 trout. I didn't believe it since it is such a small lake.
Well after two consecutive weeks without a bite here between a buddy and me, we decided to take advantage of the great weather after work and throw the line in. We didn't regret it!! Limit between the both of us in less than an hour and a half. Average size was 16 inches!! I didn't believe it.
I will say that as I walked along the waters edge I found a couple of smaller fish just left in the weeds. I spoke to a guy, which looked like he hadn't bathed in about a month, sitting not far away that had crossed my line when he cast out. He bragged about being there earlier that day and catching his limit already. I unobtrusively stated I hated people that did that and mentioned that there were a few small fish just cast in the weeds. He later asked if I had seen a stringer sitting nearby where the cast aside fish were, because that was where he had been fishing earlier. It is people like this guy that I wish vigilantism was not illegal.
