Went fishing this week: skunked! Went Aug 2nd, 3rd and today (5th). No fish, no bites, nothing. On the 3rd a kid upstream had one on, then lost it not sure what it was. Talked with someone from WDFW who was walking downstream taking a look at people's gear and asking questions about what they have seen/encountered. He told me no one has seen anything at all, perhaps because the river is still up higher than it usually is this time of year.

If it was about catching fish, I might hang up the pole and stay home! However, the early morning on the river is a great time to stand around waving a stick. Nice and peaceful...though a salmon or two would make the wife happier!

Although I live in live in Kitsap I work adjacent to the Puyallup. I am watching. They are coming. I have been trolling here for years ( this website, that is ) and decided to jump in both feet. I will be posting as the kings and then the silvers start to really roll in. Fishing this river over the last few years has had it's ups and downs. I really hope for a good year. Last year was outrageous, but what can you say,,,,zoo! It was worth it. Fish almost anytime? Who can beat that? I have big circle of friends who fish this river and it truly just isn't happening yet, It will and all will be good. The cars have come and the cars have gone. Maybe just people thinking that thinking that things are going to be as easy as last year. I am not a veteran salmon fisherman, only a few years but I do love this river. Hats off to great fishing!!
