My 10 year old son and I hit the Green River again today and managed to land another beautiful Steelhead!!This was the only fish we caught for the day.We did see other people fishing this time ,but I dont know if they did any good or not.The water level has dropped quite a bit since my last report wich made the water extra low and clear. It is truly amazing to fight a Steelhead in water this skinny, and my son video taped 99 percent of the battle wich was a great bonus!! I have a lot of time invested in this river and it is always nice to see your efforts rewarded.I do not believe there are any "SECRETS"when it comes to Steelhead fishing on the Green,if you put in the time you can catch some real nice fish, but I have never had a Steelhead come easy on this river.Good Luck!!!

Sweet the green can be 1 hard river to fish but yes if you do put your time in the river there is a good pay back for sure ! Nice looking steel head and thanks for the report !

Thanks for the comments guys,I fish mostly around Palmer this time of year.Getting away from all the people is the hard part, but there is miles of river to explore.Good Luck!!

dadams, you know the spot!!That is a real good area. There are some great holes all through the gorge though, and covering water seems to work best for me.Good Luck out there!!!

dadams, half the battle on this river is to keep trying!!! I was not joking when I said these fish don t come easy. The only good advice I can give you is this:The water down there is extra low and clear, these fish can spot you from a long distance so staying low and being extra stealthy is a MUST.Wear clothes that blend in with the background and try not to move around a lot. These may sound like small things but believe me they can make all the difference.Good Luck ,I hope you get one next time!!

The number of views this post has had made me think about some other things I should let the folks out there know. The Green River Gorge is a true wilderness experience, not the best place to bring kids unless you know the area. The trails here are mountain goat trails at best,so be careful!! You will not get a cell phone signal down there, and I rarely see other people so if you fall and hurt yourself it will be a long crawl out!! I have come nearly face to face with HUGE BEARS on more than one occasion, lucky for me they were not in the mood for confrontation.Again be careful!!!There are cougar sightings in the area all the time,I have never seen one but I bet THEY have seen ME.One time I even thought I saw BIGFOOT-------No Joke!! So just be careful,I don t want to be responsible for sending someone to there doom!! To answer dadams question,I know every trail down there and they all go somewhere,I told you to explore and you should, but your best shot at STEEL is gonna be from that set of holes up river through Palmer up to near Tacoma Head works Dam.Good Luck and post a picture when you catch one!!!!!
