This was my third time at Sky not haven't even gotten a bite. Today I was there from 6am to 7pm . I hit Reiter up first there was A couple fish caught but that was it I left there about noon and went to Sultan water was high nothing caught wasn't very many people out. I'm wondering if im fishing correctly for this is my first year out fishing for steelhead. If anyone wants to give me anytips it would be appreciated. I used corky yarn and weight leader is about 2ft cast at 10 retrieve at 2. I also use a float with shrimp and eggs float swivel about 2ft and leadrer of 3ft with corky. Can you float yarn and corky ? If so how long do u want leader ? If anyonehas any input I would appreciate it.

You were doing everything right it sounds like. I personaly dont fish around the cracker bar for steelhead but thats me. I like up towards the wallace more. With the yarn under a float i would make it a little longer than normal

Thanks for the feed back, I was hoping I was doing it wrong so I had a good reason for not catching anything . I guess I have to learn how to pick a spot to fish. I know your supposed to look for big rocks because they like to rest in pocket.

Sometimes you dont have to cast out far for them. Me and my dad were beach right up from sultan mouth,. and we were casting and casting. Then some guy walk up and catches one right out in front of me like 5 feet away/. LOL gross. and he got another about 10 mins later. there were holding in about 3 feet of water or less

Try the bobber and pink worm. thats pretty effective, but is best when water is medium to low flow and clear. I havnt got a steelhead in awhile. and I put in hours too

Thanks for the info. I will add pink worm to tackle. I'm going to put many more hours in I know its going to be worth it. I have been lake fishing a lot lately but now that the Sky is open i'm obsessed with catching a Steel head.

Hit the water and cover it well. At the sky start covering water every foot starting as close to the shore as you can. I've caught them under bushes right behind people before at the sultan. Drift the drift working your way out and cast a foot further each time. If you're bobber fishing, make sure you're close enough to the bottom. If you've got line out in the water, or your bobber is too big for your weight, it's gonna pull your bait right out of the strike zone and no fish will see it at all. And sometimes, there just aren't any fish where you're fishing, or they're not biting anything. I've had more luck on little tiny baby peach corkies with no yarn on a two foot leader than anything else. You just got to get it in front of that fish. Took me a year and a half to catch my first steelhead when I started fishing with my dad, but I know the feeling. I went everyday after school just to get that fish. Good luck! ~Nate
