I planned my attack but I really had no idea what I was in for since I was going to a spot I had never been on the Sultan river upstream of the powerhouse. After a minor blood letting do to sticker bushes and navigating some unstable cliffs I got to the river . It was stunningly beautiful . I put on my trusy #4 Nickel Blue Fox and it didn't let me down. I actually lost track of exact numbers but I released everything I caught. 3 or 4 little whitefish 4 or 5 12-15" trout , these little guys were some of the prettiest I have seen. I nailed a 4 or 5 pound summer run steelhead , no witnesses so I snapped a pic. of the beauty that made my day. It had a clipped fin but I wasn't about to leave and I am picky about putting the fish I eat on ice immediatly so I released him . So many fishing holes so little time . This is an area I would suggest fishing with a partner due to the constant danger of faling rocks,rising river levels and steep terrain.

I love those kinds of outings. Off the beaten path,
mixed bag of stuff and a big 'en to go with it. Borderline 5 stars with the several nice (non-hatchery) trout and steelhead kicker IMO!

I used the access on the west side of the river on the road to the lake chaplain facility, more scouting to do in that area for sure. I had a hard time getting to that spot so next time I will try to trailblaze some new territory in that same area. It felt like a five star day to me being rewarded with all that action after toiling over the map for an off the beaten path fishing hole right in the middle of all the action on the Skykomish right now .
