Thank God for daddy boot camp. I went up to riverview bible camp for an event that focuses on becoming a better father and was able to get in the water for a couple hours throughout the weekend. All in all I caught 5 pike (all between 22 and 28 inches) and 3 largemouth, all three were big bass 4.2, 4.4, and my new personal record of 6.4! White spinner baits were the ticket, don't know water temp I was in a canoe. I missed several other fish and spotted one pike easily over 40 inches, She was huge! but she didn't want what I had to offer. All fish were caught between 2 and 4 feet of water. C&R the one on the left is the 6.4lb

Nice work! There's a tournament on the Pend Orielle in about a month so I'll be headed up prefishing before too long. What kind of water clarity did you see? And if it's ok to ask, how were you working, fast, slow? Thanks for the info.

What portion of the river were you fishing? Thanks

@ fishing cougar, I was about 15 miles north of ione. @ ryancompetition, water clarity was fair (about 4 feet of clarity) on friday then the wind came in and along with the damn being down it went to maybe one foot of clarity. I worked it fast with breaks in pattern, the pike were hitting when I stopped reeling and the bass were hitting as soon as the spinner hit the water.

Nice job Tim. Glad to see that you are starting to get into some of those quality fish up there that we have talked about. --FrankT

Trouthear, you were about 5 miles north of Metaline falls then?

Troutheart, were you north or south of the Box Canyon Dam? The reason I ask is because the box canyon dam is about 3 miles north of Ione and Metaline falls is 10 miles north of Ione? If you put in at Ione, is there a passage way that you can make to the other side of the dam or did you drive around and put in. I am just curious so I can get my bearings straight. Looks like you had some good production that I might like to try when I am up that way next time.

Thanks,
Lucius

Pretty sure he meant to say south of Ione as that is where that bible camp is at right along the highway. Would be a long ways to go in a canoe if he paddled that far. Nice fish by the way.

I guess i'm not sure where I was except right next to the bible camp so I guess that means "south of ione". look for the only place on the river by ione that has a huge wooden cross in front of it, the fish are there and there are a lot of them. PS throw the big ones back so they can drop those eggs!

Riverview is between Cusick and Ione. I have pulled some huge fish out of this stretch of water, I own a cabin up the road. Please don't just give this info to anyone, make them earn it. Increased fishing pressure will only mean more rules for all of us. Challenge yourself and try to take these fish on a fly.
