Made the trip to the Willamette river to fish for Sturgeon on Friday and Saturday. My lifelong friends John and Phil from Phoenix and Klamath falls met me there and off we went. We launched at the St Johns Bridge and went down river towards the mouth for about a mile. An Hour into the first day I hooked into a really nice 44" sturgeon. My first real good keeper. I was using sand shrimp with the usual set up. 4 oz wieght on a slider behind the boat. About an hour later John hooked into one that we all thought was bigger but turned out to be a 42 1/2" fighter. He was using Jarred squid as was Phil. Still a really nice fish. And then Phil hooked into a 36 3/4" shaker that thought he was 7 feet long. Came out of the water. Friday was a great day for catching the fish and Saturday was a great day to be fishing. Nothing but shakers on saturday though. Lot of boats and very few fish. I also noted that there were very few springers showing up right now. even off the Columbia. Sorry I didn't have room for Phil's Pic but here is the 2 keepers.
