arrived at the blue creek hatchery around 4, second cast of the day had my very first steelie a bright hen, i thought i was dreaming it had been so long since i had a fish on my rod. a good start to the day, not long after my friend hooks his first springer of the season, after a 3 minute battle and trip downstream the pissed off king spits his hook, he walks back upstream, casts and BAM fish on again! this time the battle goes on for aroun 10 minutes, and we end up way downstream, we come back to our hole with a 20 lb spring king. i get out to the hole and cast, i could not believe when the line was being peeled off of my reel now, another springer! it takes me downstream a ways, i tire it out and have the fish about a foot off the bank. my friend slips on a rock with the net and almost lands on the fish, i was dissapointed when the line suddenly went slack. :( about another hour later of many lost hookups, i am hooked onto another fish and bank my second steelie of the day, this time a slightly dark buck. Then the fish turned off. what a great day and good way to break in my new baitcaster setup. stopped at bd and no action, took a few pics and headed out
