We put the boat in the water before sun up and took off down river. There were about a half dozen boats and quite a few plunkers sitting on the gravel bars. We fished about a mile and a half of river but we didn’t catch anything. One of the plunkers pulled up a nice looking fish. That was the only fish I saw all day.
I guess the fishermen here are extremely competitive because when I said we should ask what they were using I was told “don’t bother, you won’t get a straight answer“. The guys I went with even changed up their gear before coming to shore.
Well it was my first time drift fishing and needless to say, my first time boondogging. I was in the middle between two steelhead veterans and most of my concentration was spent trying not to hook one of them. I caught more than one tree watching what my bait was doing behind me.
No fish but still a great trip
