Water,Water everywhere....To much of a good thing was Mondays theme.Left home at 5:30 am with my father in law.Arrived at the Bogy hatchery at 7:30am and it was pouring. One look at the river told me it was going to be a challenge to catch fish today. We fished about 20 ft down from the hatchery creek. The water was on the rise and the vis was getting worse and worse.I did manage to hook one fish that promptly took me out into the heavy current and turned and then left for lower end of the river wich pulled my hook free. That was our excitement for the morning. After 2 hrs we were soaked and headed out for a drive to find cleaner water and to dry out.I drove us out to the Goodman, wich was an adventure in itself, they are logging somewhere on the Goodman mainline that means log trucks. The river was high but had good vis so we fished for about 2 hrs with no success. After drying off and having lunch we headed back to the Bogy to see what was going on.The handicap access was the only fishable water and it was crowded. It was nice to meet Scott,Ron and Don.Also fun to watch the rodeo going on at the end of the dock combat fishing at its finest, but from what i saw everyone played nice. All in all a fun day...By the way i talk with fish checker while standing there and we will all be loseing many streams that now have hatchery fish.In the near future if a stream does not have a hatchery with an adult fish holding area it will no get a smolt plant.Just thought i would pass it along.Tight lines and take a kid fishin.......

Thanks for the report crandall, Im not sure I understand what your are telling us about the hatchery fish. They arent going to plant smolt in rivers without an adult fish holding area?

Any river system without a hatchery or away to capture returning adult fish.

Most of the rivers get smolt plants from different rivers like the Bogachiel, he's saying those rivers that don't have a hatchery area for themselves won't be getting the smolt plants from other rivers that have hatcherys

jb thats right if there is not a hatchery or holding ponds for adult fish to return to that river will no get smolt plants.Wich really sucks because there are a lot of good rivers that wont get fish.A few off the top of my head are the Hoh,Clearwater, Pilchuck,Goodman,Lyre,Hoko and the list goes on and on.I know the Green gets smolts but im not sure if they have a place for adults. If you go to the wdfw web sight you can find out what streams are getting smolts right now.
