Decided to get together with my best fishing buddy for a day on the water before he deploys this year. Showed up at Blackman's about 3:00 PM and fished of the one open pier. We had no sucess with PB, worms under bobbers, or a veritable arsenal of spoons and spinners. A thunderstorm kicked up and we left for coffee and hoped the storm would blow itself out soon. When we returned we saw a little bit of surface action very shallow between the two fishing piers. We figured they were small fish, but didn't care at this point, we wanted to land anything we could. After a couple of small fish in the 6" to 8" range on crawlers under a float, I switched to a Blue Fox spinner, rainbow trout pattern, size 0. Within a couple of casts, I hooked into a nice fish, about 14 inches. Proceeded to catch another in the 16" range, then lost a monster. I switched spools from 4lb to 6lb, and hooked a couple of small 10" fish so badly that I couldn't justify turning them loose. Last fish to round out my limit was about 19" and around 4 lbs. A nice fish to close the day with. My buddy caught a couple of 6" trout but was otherwise skunked, Sorry Steve-O. A great day fishing, all fish caught in less than three feet of water within 20 feet of the shore.
