I caught a really nice native steelhead on Christmas on the Snoqualmie river by Carnation. The fish gave me one of the best fights I've had in a long time so that made the catch that much more satisfying for me. When I first hooked up with the fish it headed straight for a tree that was in the water to try and snag me up. I was able to get it away from the tree before he could hang me up and then the fish anchored himself to the bottom and I couldn't get him to budge. That went on for a minute or two and then the fish started to make his way towards some rapids. At that point I started to panic a little bit but there was really nothing I could do. So the fish takes off down the rapids and I wasn't about to let this fish get away so I ran down the river while trying to make sure that I still kept the line tight on him. After about a thirty yard dash down the rapids I was able to land the fish. I was pretty lucky that I had as much bank to work with that I did because from where I first hooked the fish to where I landed it was about 75 yards. What a nice Christmas present that was.
