I heard Minter was finally pickin up so I decided to give it a try for a couple hours. I got out there around 3pm and had my first chum about 15 minutes later. It was a decent hen, still fairly chrome but a little small. Over the next 2 hours I landed another 5, including a buck that was easily 15lbs, but he was foul hooked and went back in. I ended up with a total of 3, the biggest being about 8lbs and 26". There were quite a few in the 15lb range that were taken home today, and even more that size lost. Green yarn, orange corkie, super light weight and a 4ft leader.

Thx for the informative report! Been waiting for the right time to hit Minter Creek, and it sounds like that time has come.

Take 16 across the bridge then go till you see the Purdy/302 west exit, follow that and turn left at the light to go across the water. Follow that road for about 5 miles till you see the sign s for the salmon hatchery (left at 118th) then just follow the signs till you hit the massive traffic jam at the creek.

Posted my report (pending moderator approval) with photo. It was a very pleasant surprise for me to find that the chromest chum I had caught (the 26" hen at bottom of the photo) actually has orange color meat similar to coho! Haven't cooked it up for a taste yet, but I have a feeling that it's going to be better than pink salmon at least.
