so after i dropped my buddy off i seen that the indians were netting,so i walked to the bridge and there was two guys fishing and i looked in the water and saw tons of chum.so from the bridge i was being there spotter and telling them where to cast and when to set the hook and with all those fish they were only able to hook and landed one without my help.so i grabed my stuff and headed down and started drifting with no luck.so right before dark i grabed my spinning rod and reel and started trowing a spinner, and BAM fish on,a big, fresh chum but wasnt really a legal hook so i let him go.the indians across the river watched me reel it in and then they hopped in they're boat and netted the shore that i was fishing.they took all the fish for about a half hour and by the time i saw more it was dark and had to go home.if only i could throw a couple bails of hay in the water to take they're nets down river uncontrolably.oh yea when i went down on the side they were on they had about a 7lb silver that was fresh and tried to sell it to me for $20,what a joke,i told them that i have a freezer full of them for free

Thanks GP for the report, good to hear the Chums are in the Puyallup. Too bad the nets are out, who knows how long it will be before they net all the Chums and leave nothing for us.

Nice.. now i will need to hit up the 115th hole. :) 7lb silver HA! Your Cowlitz beauties were bigger than that! You should've sold them a real fish. :)

Is that legal for a tribal to sell fish to you like that? Unbelievable. Kinghunter scoped out the 115th hole saturday and nothing was happening.

jens from what i understand nisqually tribals do that sort a thing all the time. a few friends were telling me that they see trucks set up on the side of the road selling netted fish. this i have a huge problem with i thought the netting thing was for traditions and supplying food for their fam? maybe since they wanna take advantage of the system we should fight to get netting to a min?

I can't stand the netting either, last year the sate put an "emergency closure" on the Carbon for low steelhead returns but at the same time the indians were netting. I think they have their commercial license though, so its legal to sell on side of the road.

yea its legal and they always used the fish to barter with way back when and thats why they can sell them.yea i wish i could have showed them a real silv from the cow,i would have charged them $60 lol.and it sucks as much as we all hate the netting, they are the ones with the hatcherys that supply the hatchery fish we are allowed to keep
