After no luck earlier in the week on the puyallup and the carbon I had to try something different. I ended up at the green by the auburn golf course. I fished there for around 2 hrs I got there about 820 or so. I tossed a spinner to start. Got no bites at all. I tied a spoon on really the first time Ive tried spoons. after a few casts I got one on. It lasted a whole 10-12 sec with a surface splash. Just enough to get my blood flowing good. Oh to top it off this was the first time using my new rod. I bought an Okuma guide series bait cast 8'6 with an abu 4600 reel. I was waiting to actually get one in. But nothing else. Guy across the river foul hooked one and tossed it back. No action here. So went up river a little bit just below the 8th st bridge. Tossed a spoon for a little. Seen some guys just up river from me tossing out corkies and yarn. The hooked into 3 within 10 mins of me getting there. I stuck with the spoons. And as I was reeling in a seen something trailing the spoon. I paused it for a sec then gave a fast spin of the reel. That fish hit it good. 5 feet in front of me I watched him take it. Pretty cool looking. So I got my first fish on my new rod with spoons for the first time as well. Ill be trying them some more for sure. I did keep the pink I caught. Color was actually pretty good and not beating or zombified. Im sure I will not catch another pink this year that looks that good. Cant wait to see some silvers and steelies should be comming in the next month or so too. Good times! Tight lines!

Sounds like fun! I have used spoons all season and had great sucess in Eastern WA. I have been using a hammered nickel 1/4 oz spoon.

I had used a few different spoons today and the one I got the fish on was an artic fox hammered nickel with blue streak on one side. The silver and blue really flash in the water. And like I said a pink bit it so it must draw some attention in the water lol.
