hit the hatchery on the wallace at daybreak with my pops and a friend. the coho are thick. ill tell you what, there are some monsters in there. caught fish all day. kept this one cuz it was not as dark as most of the fish i was catching. then about 1 oclock another push came in with alot of bright fish. dont get me wrong they were not chrome, but alot of them were not red at all yet. hooked into alot of these fish but couldnt seem to net any of the real bright ones. they would straight run from the net. all in all i had a blast. talked to a few guys who said that the coho are just starting to push hard on the lower snoho. so i imagine the fishing will be great all this week.

if you want to have a little bit of a cheat day, hit up the hatchery on the wallace.

i dont know why my pictures havnt been showing up lately, but anyway. just follow hwy 2 east just past sultan and startup till you see the sign that says salmon hatchery. if your going east you will take a left onto a road. and a block down the street is the hatchery. park by the entrance and follow the little road around the back of the hatchery to the river. this week should be great fishing right there.

What is the ticket to catch them?

just about any kind of jig, or a single small corky on 2-3 ft of leader, just about any color, but green seems to be the best.

You can fish that close to the hatchery??

It's complicated. They have kind of a removable barrier that's used to raise river level behind it, so that the pumps can run. Once the river is naturally high they remove it. If the barrier is on place, you can't fish 400 feet up or down the barrier. Once the barrier is off, you can fish anywhere.
