9/10/2009 4:37:00 PMi will be down there at 5 am with a couple buds.
hit 112th st today shortly after noon with my old man. it his first time going after the salmon since he was a kid.
tide was on its way out when we got there. used some spoons and some jigs for about an hour and landed and released a few bucks. then the schools started moving up. my dad kept with the spoons and jigs and caught, landed and lost more than a few fish.
once the schools started moving i threw on a pink speckled wee-nite on about 2 ft of leader with 3/8ths ounce bullet weight hooked on the swivel. i could only cast this about 30 ft, but thats all it took. i would cast as far as i could an reel as slow as i could until i could feel my lure bouncing across their backs. hooked about 25, landed about 10 to 15 and kept only the four hens in the pic.and believe it or not i only foul hooked/snaged 2 out of all of those fish. one of the bucks i caught was probly 6-7 pounds. biggest one i ever seen with my own eyes.
