Were u fishing for Silvers ? I,m from 30 miles above Spokane, Long drive for me ,but love that area! That Mt Walker view is cool!! Is this the first flush of fish? Is there a pink fishery in that river?

As far as I know the Quilcene River is known for Coho. The run should pick the middle of next week because of the rain expected the next few days. If you call the Quilcene Hatchery at (360) 765-3334 and then push 5 when you get the recording; you will be able to get a fish count and get idea of how hot the run is. The River is small between 40 and 75 feet wide and the water is only about 18" deep with deeper holes. Disregarding the snagging it is a nice place to fish. Most of the fish are bright. Since you are coming so far take a look at other rivers in the area. The Elwaha in Port Angeles. The Dungeness in Squim. Skokomish in Hoods Port. Good luck

Brian, if you need an Indian permit it would only be on the part of the river within the reservation at the mouth. It does get a good run of Coho. If you fish inside the Olympic National Park it is catch and release, fly fishing only.
