I fished with Kinghunter this morning with TommyTitan showing up a little bit later. This is my 5th time trying to get a Salmon/Steelhead for 2009. Honestly, I have been pretty frustrated. Tommy sent me a text last night of 2 Pinks, I thought today was finally going to be the day. We found an isolated spot along the river and as soon as daylight came, Kinghunter and I went at it. I was using pink on pink with 6 ft of leader using 12lb main with 10lb leader. The fish were rolling sporadically and on my 10th cast of getting the flow of the river and watching my line and feeling the weight bounce along the bottom, I noticed something different about the drift so I set the hook. WHAT THE?? FISH ON! A short battle- a couple runs, I proudly got the fish in. The bite was pretty hot the entire morning and we all took turns having the hot drift and hot stick. At one point Tommy had a hook up 5 casts in a row. Then it was Kinghunter, then myself. I did however land the most fish, but without a net, we did lose plenty more. All three of us most likely had a big King or a big Silver on, but we never saw the fish, the bend in our rods and our reels singing, we knew these weren't pinks. I still can't wipe the smile off my face from today. If you are new to fishing for salmon in rivers, I highly recommend fishing here. I caught my limit and so will you.
