To avoid the fish slaughter of Opening Weekend, my husband and I decided to take the boat out to Lake Washington. We started at about 8:30 AM, mostly trolling flies and crankbaits along the Western shore between the I-90 and 520 bridges. We had a bite and one fish that got away. At 4:30 PM, as we headed back to the boat ramp, my husband hooked a 4# Smallmouth on a Rapala Husky Jerk. It was a nice, fat, female. After admiring his catch, he released it back into the lake. It took all day to catch, but it was worth it.
