This report is actually for the Snoqualmie River below the Falls. I got to the river about 8:00 a/m and started throwing a small spinner with a split shot. Had several followers and one about 12" that tried to nail it just before I was pulling it out of the water. He missed it. Tried several areas and most fish were located in pools off of the fish hatchery road. Never got anything out of the water but had two on that threw the hook before I could land them,"selective gear, no barbs".

There was a guy fishing with two small boys using barbed hooks and nightcrawlers. I told him about the selective gear rules and that he was looking at a pretty good size ticket if he got caught. He seemed like a decent guy who was just out to have some fun with his boys. After explaining the rules to him I expected him to move on. I headed up river around this bend for about an hour and when I came back he was still there with the boys using the same tackle! I was about a half a second away from calling the DFW! As anglers and especially parents isn't it our responsibilty to lead by example so the next generation will hopefully do the same.

Yeah, I saw a guy bragging there about his illegal native steelhead catch a few years ago. It is no mystery why fishing is getting worst everywhere!

Tough break on the fish, better luck next time. As for folks ignoring the selective gear rules, take their picture and call 1-877-933-9847. I have it programmed into my phone. Ignorance is one thing, just plain ignoring the rules gets me hot under the collar!

I would worry more about the people using nets than barbed hooks wow
