We finally fished this river for the 1st time. No pike, no bass, no nothing except 2 giant squawfish both over 5 pounds. We launched at Panhandle campground around 9am and fished till 2:30pm. We tossed everything we have in our small tackle shop, and even resorted to trying the banjo minnow for the 1st time. The banjo got some small followers (bass), but no takers. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to launch or what area of the river to fish? Oldtown, Cusick, or Ione? I just want to catch a darn Northern!!

fish out of usk or cusick is good, annd just fish the big sloughs. if you lauch out of the outpost resort (i think its out of buisness but you might still be able to use the launch) and take a right and go around the first big right bend there will be one large slough called gardener slough to the right and if you go past it on the same side there will be another slough called hankey. both of those are good for pike and especially bass when the water isnt really low like it has been latley (i've just heard its been low). also theres a place called tacoma slough and its just a little ways past hankey and its hot too. if you cant launch from the out post then you can launch out of the usk public launch and get there too, just go left and you will reach all of the same sloughs. the key thin is to just find big sloughs. go to google maps and look for them out of usk. there is one big one called cow slough to the right of uck past the bridge about a mile or 2 that should be hot to google map it and you shouldnt miss it.
