Launched from Sayres about 0800. The weather was calm with high clouds. I didn't
know the air temp or water temp. Left my battery and fishfinder at home. I motored
right over to the north side of the I-90 bridge. Started fishing with pop gear and a
wedding ring w/ worm. I let out 50 turns of my spinning reel with a two ounce weight.
I noticed a ton of smolt on the surface of the lake, the water seem to boil there were so
many smolt around. Between 0900 and 1000 the bite was on! I landed two nice
cutts, one large 'bow, released three shakers, and lost a nice one. Then it started to rain.
Turns out the high clouds were a sign of weather to come and the falling barometer really
sparked a good mid-morning bite. Today, was my best day on the big lake yet. I will be
back!
