try using soothing more natural, like drift fishing worms.

Yo Derrick-k, The river above Henderson Ave Bridge is open year-round and has "selective gear rules," and C&R for all game fish except hatchery steelhead. This means NO BAIT ALLOWED. Check the definition of "selective gear rules" in the fishing rules pamphlet. It also says the Deschutes River below that bridge (near Pioneer Park) is closed to fishing in April and May. So you're gonna have to wait until June 1st to use worms, and only below the bridge. Thanks. Muddling through these regs has turned me into a real conehead.

Bassman93, Try using a 2" red/brown plastic worm under a float, jig-and-bobber style. Same technique as using a larger pink worm under a float for steelhead, only a little smaller.

I also used to use small roostertail spinners in the "rainbow trout" color. They worked pretty well for cutts. Now I only use flies when fishing for trout, as they are cheaper to lose to snags.

Where is the Beaver Pond? I have fished at the Park last year and did pretty well even with all the rafters floating by.
