It was snow day at work, so I went down to the Riverbend campground on the Nisqually. The roads were good until Mounts road but my front wheel drive did ok. I didn’t drive all the way down the gravel bar. I wasn’t going to put my little car into to much danger so I walked the rest of the way when I found a wide spot to park.
There were fish on as I got there. Wow those fish look good. It was hard to tell they were chums. I saw 3 or 4 caught. I didn’t get anything. The WDFW guys came in and one made a statement out loud to us “Make sure you do the paper work on your fish.” Then they left.
Casting was easy since it wasn’t freezing, the eyes were clear but I got too cold even with the fire nearby and it was snowing pretty hard when I left... In fact it was hard to see where I was casting and the snow was sticking to my pole. I was there 10:30am-12:30pm.

They were so nice. Not big like some of them when I was at the Chum-a-thon. Under 10 lbs. but oh so bright. They got through the Indians netting.
I don't know when I will be able to go again.I have tomorrow off but have appt. in the early afternoon. The roads won't be as good tomorrow because it will be below freezing. I do have Saturday off but it is shoulder to shoulder fishing.

Jens, I don't know where Reservation Rd is. IF you go to Reports at the top of this page click it, in the drop down menu click River Index and then in the search box type Nisqually. It will show Little Nisqually and Nisqually. Click Nisqually.
There are pictures of the Handicap area and directions. You will have to adapt them for Reservation Rd. Google maps is a good source for seeing the roads and satellite view.

Thank you Toni, much appreciated! Do you think the handicap area is better than under the bridge?

I don't know if it is better or not. The handicap hole is real close to the gravel bar where I was. Just walk under the trestle. It is a bit of a walk, not bad though.
