Hit the big lake at 0800. Water temp 63-65. Started trolling with ol' reliable, pop gear/wedding ring (Uncle Wes)/ worm right on the surface as soon as I left Sayres Pits.
I pointed the bow of the boat towards the I-90 bridge. I was fishing the west approach to the bridge in about 40 feet of water when the first fish hit. The
water behind the boat exploded as the fish came flying out of the water as it attacked my gear from below. You should have seen the facial expression of the guy
driving the chase boat for the rowing team. The fish came out of the water with pop gear and wedding ring in to the air right next to his boat. He looked startled!
After landing that nice fish I continued to the north side of the bridge. I made one pass with no results. Motioned to a couple of guys in a Stryper and they said they
had caught five fish already. I later decided to fish the south side of the bridge and just as I started my way across fish number two hit. I landed him and continued on
across the bridge. The bait fish seemed to be stacked up against the bridge like cord wood near the east channel. I only managed to get a couple of little brown fish
(I don't know what they were) and then decided to pack it in at 1230.
