Went to a new park today with my father. We fished for about 2 hours in the rain. 45 minutes in I caught a nice 13 inch what looked to be a coho but I'm not sure. Then walked farther down and then my father caught a nice 12 inch what looked to be a cutthroat but I'm not sure. All fish released Saw at least 15 fish hit the surface/jump. Fun day on the water.

The one in the picture is a silver, but no way to treat a fish you are going to release

Agreed.. I would be careful pulling them to the bank high and dry if a warden is around. I would also make sure you can identify what your are catching.

I'll bring my little catch and release net next time so all I will have to do is slide the hook out. Not touching it and it not touching the ground

That's a silver. Illegal to take out of the water if you are releasing it

River hunter… I didn't know that. Now I do I won't take it out of the water. But how do I get the hook out without taking it out of the water?

Not trying to be a smart ass. But you put your hands into the water, and remove the hook the same way you would if the fish was out of the water. Just do the best you can. If his nose breaks the surface, just try another method the next time. Everyone from time to time has to raise the head up to get a better angle.
