Got out on the water a little later than we had intended due to me being sleepy. Launched out of Shilshole at about 9:30am and at first headed north toward Edmonds. As we were trolling back down to the launch with no bites and not much marked on the sonar, I decided we were going to troll down to Westpoint and then call it a day. That was the right decision.
Fishing at 65' down on the wire, one side was a watermelon Brad's cutplug behind a purple dodger, other side was a UV chartreuse spot coyote spoon behind a pro troll dodger. Landed four Chinook; 3 shakers and one nice keeper in less than an hour. Lost two others that were right at the keeper size within 30' of the boat. Would have been a five star day if we would have landed those fish. Both rigs were getting bit. As you can see from the graphs in the photos, there was lots of bait and lots of salmon out there.
My first time launching at Shilshole and the launch is a bit of a charlie foxtrot if you know what I mean, but everyone kept their cool and it wasn't too crowded. Can't imagine what it would be like if it was super busy though.
We had to come in about 2pm and we were one of 6 boats that came in that had any fish at all, so we definitely had a good day.
